FAITH WORKS WONDERS
“Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.’ Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, ‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!'” — Mark 9:23-24
Human logic is governed by what is seen, measured, and deemed possible within the rigid framework of natural law. We calculate risks, analyze limitations, and routinely conclude that certain situations are permanently unfixable. A hardened heart, a shattered marriage, a terminal diagnosis, or a paralyzed spiritual life are quickly categorized by the world as dead ends. Yet, the entire narrative of Scripture is a divine disruption of human impossibility. When God enters the equation, natural laws bow to supernatural authority. The Bible does not merely suggest that hope is nice; it declares with thunderous conviction that faith works wonders.
To understand the dynamic engine of faith, we must look past the superficial definitions popular in modern culture. Biblical faith is not positive thinking, nor is it a psychological trick to boost self-confidence. It is the absolute, unshakeable persuasion that God is who He says He is and that He will do what He has promised (Hebrews 11:1). In the eleventh chapter of Hebrews, often called the Hall of Faith, we read of ordinary men and women who, by faith, subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, stopped the mouths of lions, and turned flight to rout foreign armies. They did not achieve these wonders because of their own exceptional brilliance or strength, but because their faith anchored them to an extraordinary God. When human resources are completely exhausted, faith becomes the currency of heaven.
Consider the profound declaration of Jesus in Matthew 17:20: “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” Notice that the Lord did not require a mountain of faith; He required faith in a mountain-moving God, even if that faith is no larger than a tiny seed. The potency of faith is not determined by its size, but by its object. A hesitant, trembling whisper directed toward the throne of grace can shatter strongholds that have stood unchallenged for decades. Faith refuses to accept circumstances as the final authority, choosing instead to measure the obstacle against the staggering magnitude of God’s omnipotence.
Yet, true faith is never static; it is inherently active and relentless. In the Gospels, the woman with the issue of blood did not merely hope for healing while sitting at a distance; her faith drove her through a hostile crowd to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment, and her faith made her whole (Mark 5:34). Blind Bartimaeus refused to be silenced by the multitude, crying out all the more until Jesus stopped and opened his eyes (Mark 10:46-52). Wonders do not chase the passive; they answer the call of persistent, unwavering trust. If you are facing a mountain today that defies all human remedy, stop measuring the height of the cliff and start activating the power of your faith. For with God, every barrier becomes a canvas for His glory.
Altar Call

Faith is not manufactured by human grit; it is awakened by the presence of the Savior. Whether you need a miracle in your body, your family, or your spirit, Jesus is passing by this very moment. If you have never trusted Christ as your Savior, or if your faith has grown cold and stagnant under the weight of life’s disappointments, step out of the shadows of unbelief. Bring your tears, your doubts, and your broken pieces to this altar, and watch what happens when you anchor your soul in the God of wonders.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, we confess that our vision is too often limited by what our eyes can see. We have looked at our mountains and measured them by our weakness rather than by Your infinite power. Forgive us for our unbelief, Lord, and stretch our capacity to trust You beyond the boundaries of human reason. We choose today to activate the faith You have placed within us. Move every mountain of sickness, despair, and fear out of our lives, and let Your miraculous power be displayed for all to see. Kindle a fire in our hearts that refuses to doubt Your goodness.
